Stephen E. Hancock, CPA is a shareholder of Thomas, Knight, Trent, King
and Company and serves as its managing shareholder. A 1974 graduate of
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he received his CPA
certificate in 1976.
Steve joined the firm in 1980 after working with
international and other large accounting firms. He was named president
and managing principal in 1988. As managing shareholder, he oversees the
business operations, human resources and planning at TKTK
®.
Steve also works directly with many family and closely held companies
providing business and tax consulting services.
He has worked
extensively in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, business
valuations, management succession planning, executive compensation,
fringe benefit and estate planning. His background also includes an
in-depth understanding of services for manufacturing, publishing,
contractors, developers, wholesalers, healthcare services, auto
dealerships, retailers, financial institutions, personal financial
planning and non-profit organizations.
He
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants
(NCACPA).
Steve and his wife, Lisa Powell, are actively involved in the community.
He is a past president and life member of the Durham Jaycees and has
served on many boards of directors including the Durham Arts Council,
Inc. and Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina, Inc. Steve has
chaired the Small Business Council and the Human Relations Committee of
the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce and has served on advisory
committees for the City of Durham.
